Microsoft switches from Bing to Nokia maps in Windows Phone 8 for offline maps and turn-by-turn directions

Today at Microsoft’s Windows Phone event, it is announcing a series of updates to its Windows 8 platform.

One of the biggest pieces that came out of the event is that Microsoft has dumped Bing to use Nokia maps for turn-by-turn directions and offline access in the platform.

Along with a shared core between Windows Phone and Windows, the company is showing off what users will be able to see this fall.
