Silverlight For Symbian RTMs. Available On The OVI Store

Microsoft’s alternative for rich media on the Internet is now available on a dying platform.

In a blog post the Silverlight team has announced that Nokia users can download Silverlight from the Ovi Store (~4MB). The supported phones so far are:

• Nokia 5800 Xpress Music
• N97
• N97 Mini

Te following features are being highlighted by Microsoft:

• Hardware assisted Media playback of H.264 content.
• On demand media streaming via IIS Smooth Streaming
• .NET Compact Framework for development.

Microsoft has shared two Silverlight application to try out on Symbian:

• Bing
• HSN
