Rdio today announced it has added support for Google’s Chromecast dongle, letting you stream music directly to your TV. The feature is supported across Android tablets and smartphones, iPhones, iPads, Chrome for Mac, and Chrome for Windows. To use the feature, make sure Chromecast is set up, and then just press the cast icon in Rdio’s Android, iOS, or Web apps.
Rdio promises the feature is straightforward to use and keeps the same controls you’re already used to: “You won’t have to learn anything new.” You can cast songs, albums, stations, and playlists. The integration also supports controlling playback from anywhere in your house and displaying album art on your big screen.
So. Much. Tech.
Some of the biggest names in tech are coming to TNW Conference in Amsterdam this May.
Update: Today’s update also includes Crackle. The Sony-owned company explains Chromecast support means you can now watch its television shows, films, and original series wherever you have a TV screen and Wi-Fi connection.
With the Chromecast Cast SDK now broadly available, and the Chromecast for sale in an expanding list of countries, we can expect more apps like Rdio and Crackle to accept the $35 device with open arms. That in turn will only help fuel Chromecast’s popularity.
