Cyber Monday was Amazon’s biggest single day for Kindle sales ever

Cyber Monday 2012 was the biggest day ever for Kindle sales worldwide, Amazon announced today. The company doubled up on last year’s record over the long Thanksgiving weekend.

Record-breaking sales were likely helped by Amazon’s decision to sell its Kindle Fire for $129. According to Amazon, this promotion became the biggest Cyber Monday deal ever for its website.

Still, yesterday’s record refers to the full Kindle range, including tablets, which top Amazon’s rankings alongside the Kindle Fire:

“Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fires have held the top 4 spots on the Amazon worldwide best sellers list since launch, and that was before the busiest shopping weekend of the year,” said Amazon Kindle’s vice president, Dave Limp.

According to the company, 9 out of the top 10 best-selling products on Amazon worldwide since September 6th are Kindles, Kindle accessories and digital content. As you may remember, this was the day on which Amazon introduced its Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Paperwhite, in addition to a $69 Kindle.
