We’re big fans of Boxee here at The Next Web, and we’ve previously noted it’s one of the easiest ways to bring movies, TV shows, photos and music from the Web to your TV.

Boxee has since announced a slick new iPad app, and integrations with Grooveshark as well as Spotify. And today, Boxee has announced that it’s rolling out an update to its existing Spotify app.

Spotify’s Premium subscription lets you stream your music directly to your Boxee Box. And from today, it has integrated a new search feature so you can find and play any track, artist or album, even if it’s not on one of your playlists.

Moreover, it has edged closer towards the desktop version of the music-streaming service, bringing ‘social’ into the mix. This means you can see when friends share a song, album or playlist with you. You’ll see a notification icon whenever you have something new along with who it’s from.

Finally, Boxee has also introduced ‘Shuffle’, which lets Spotify do the donkey-DJ work and select tunes on your behalf.

Last year we reported that Spotify was integrating more tightly with your livingroom, after it teamed up with Western Digital (WD) to bring the music-streaming service to the WD TV media player. In addition to Boxee, which first got the Spotify app last October, you can also use the service on Sonos, Squeezebox, Onkyo or TiVo system.
