Berytech Acquires 35% of 3D Imaging Dermandar

Panoramic viewBerytech Fund has acquired 35% of Dermandar the ultra fast online panorama blender and viewing tool to speed up development and take it to the next level.

Beirut based Dermandar meaning (All around in Arabic Lebanese accent) is one of the coolest online panorama creating tools out there recently reviewed by LifeHacker not without due reason, when we tried it out the speed at which the result was produced was both accurate and easy to view.

In a post on StartupArabia commenting on this investment, Berytech Fund Chairman Maroun N. Chammas said: “This investment demonstrates our confidence in the quality and vision of the founders. Digital panoramic imaging is experiencing dynamic growth and we expect Dermandar to become a global leader in this sector.”

Berytech stated in their press release that founder Elie-Grégoire Khoury graduated in Engineering from the Ecole Centrale in Paris and holds an aggregation in mathematics. He started his career in the field of videogames and was head of R&D at Ubisoft Entertainment. He met Elias Khoury, a bright student and major of his promotion in the academic realm and they formed a successful partnership.

The website also provides the option to geo-tag your panoramic images and place them on a map where others do the same, adding a social layer to the tool’s list of cool.

An interesting aspect of the webware is that all of the stitching is done on the client side using in browser flash based technology in an impressive display of  the power Adobe’s Flex on Flash technology provides.
