If you find Unroll.me or Gmail’s own unsubscribe feature ineffective, this Gmail filter works a treat for me:
Has the words: “If this email does not display properly”, skip inbox.
Or in visual form:
also “Trouble viewing this email?”
great tip to maintain gmail :)
It’s better to filter for the text “unsubscribe”
@niu tech I tweeted that to @Zee but everybody ignores me on Twitter. :(
One thing that is changing in the industry is the length of that sentence. Pre-header text is shrinking to make room for unsub-links, contents description et al. It is now becoming more like this:
‘view in browser’
‘view online version’
So this Gmail filter will diminish in effectiveness over time.
Also, why don’t you just unsubscribe from those commercial emails? You must have subscribed once, and this is the wrong non-solution for the problem you are experiencing.
I use an utility to help unsubscribe. They just changed their branding, but I suspect it works just a swell. inboxmanager.theswizzle.com
Nice! I’ll make sure my newsletters don’t include this anymore. :-)
