Hillary Clinton, like any politician, says things at rallies that seem too good to be true. This time, it’s pretty plain that her goals are too lofty.
At a rally in Michigan, Clinton said she wanted to connect every American to high-speed Internet by 2020. That’s just shy of three and a half years.

The FCC says roughly one-third of us don’t have access to broadband internet, and nearly 40 percent of those in rural areas can’t get the 25Gbps needed to meet the FCC’s definition of broadband.

Connecting the entire US to broadband by 2020 is not realistic, and it’s not even one of those ‘if all the cards fall into place just right’ scenarios that could result in a miracle. We’d have to go full-tilt New Deal/Hoover Dam on building broadband out, and that’s just not happening.
But damn it sounds good in a stump speech, doesn’t it?
