Minecraft’s mini-games are finally coming to consoles next month

If you’re a PC gamer, you can pretty much stop reading now. For everyone else, specifically console-toting Minecraft fans, you’re finally going to be able to get in on the franchise’s mini-game action from June.

Announced in a blog post, the Mojang team (now owned by Microsoft) will first roll out a new mode called Battle that, as its name suggests, lets you set up a multiplayer rumble where you need to find supplies found in randomly generated chests to best your enemies.

Once you die, you can carry on watching the other players by flying around the arena as a bat.

The Battle mini-game will support up to four player split-screen for local play, or matches of up to eight people online.

It’ll be available as a free upgrade for Minecraft: Console Edition owners with an Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and Wii U from next month, though the company didn’t give an exact date. Still, it’s not too long to wait.

The free upgrade includes three maps to test out the new mode, but if you like it you’ll be able to buy additional maps at $2.99 each.
