DOJ has harsh words for Apple in its latest motion

DOJ has harsh words for Apple in its latest motion

The Department of Justice has just filed a motion to compel Apple to cooperate with the FBI and comply with the original court order requiring the company to write software that removes a key security element of the San Bernadino shooter’s iPhone 5c.

This software would disable an iOS feature that erases the data contained on a phone after 10 failed login attempts.

Just minutes ago we reported that the US Senate panel decides against criminal charges should Apple fail to comply with court order against Apple or its executives should it fail to comply with the order, so at this juncture, it’s unclear what the motion to compel would actually accomplish. Apple has already stated publicly that it wouldn’t be complying with the order.

Whether this has any bearing on the outcome of the case remains to be seen, but the FBI took this opportunity to throw shade at Apple and call into question the company’s motives for protecting this data.
