T-Mobile’s Binge On plan, which lets you view video without running afoul of your plan’s data allotment, is under fire. Critics claim it’s downgrading (or throttling) the actual video stream. In typical T-Mobile fashion, CEO John Legere has issued a response.
Here’s the video Legere made — oddly hosted on YouTube, which is not a Binge On partner:
All Killer, No Filler
We’re bringing Momentum to New York: our newest event, showcasing only the best speakers and startups.
If you viewed that rant on your phone or tablet, it counted against your data plan. Sorry, everyone.
At this point, Binge On falls under a ‘zero rating’ system, which the FCC is just now starting to look into. If the FCC ever starts puts Binge On or Music Freedom through the looking glass, T-Mobile may be forced to change how it operates those services.
