Yahoo Screen, the company’s nascent YouTube/Netflix/Hulu competitor, is no more. Oddly enough, Screen was shut down last week — but nobody seemed to care.
Speaking to Variety, a Yahoo spokesperson had the following to say about shuttering Screen:
At Yahoo, we’re constantly reviewing and iterating on our products as we strive to create the best user experience. With that in mind, video content from Yahoo as well as our partners has been transitioned from Yahoo Screen to our Digital Magazine properties so users can discover complementary content in one place.

Last year, Facebook's VP of Design thought the TNW Conference main stage was the best she'd ever been on.
This comes as Yahoo is in a state of flux. Reports indicate shareholders want Yahoo to become less bloated, perhaps in preparation for a sell-off that could turn it into a shell corporation that holds stake in Alibaba.
For now, Screen seems to be one of the few victims of whatever Yahoo is becoming, but don’t be surprised if more Yahoo properties see similar fates.
