Amazon now offers HDR streaming to Prime subscribers in the US

Amazon has revealed that streaming will be available in high dynamic range (HDR) on its Instant Video platform for Prime subscribers in the US from today.

HDR improves image quality by enhancing shadows and highlights and making colours appear more vivid.

Only one show – Mozart in the Jungle – will be available in HDR to begin. The first season of the Amazon Original Series is all that’s on offer at the moment and it can only be watched on Samsung SUHD TVs.

While it’s limited for now to a select group of Prime subscribers, the company has said there are “more ways to watch coming soon.”

There’s no additional cost for users to avail of the new service.
