HBO is headed to Sling TV for $15/month, just in time for the ‘Game of Thrones’ premiere

HBO is headed to Sling TV for $15/month, just in time for the ‘Game of Thrones’ premiere

Sling TV has announced that it will offer HBO as part of its streaming service this month.

It is currently unspecified when HBO will go live, but the company said it will be available in time before the April 12 ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 premiere. With HBO on Sling, viewers can access one live channel and the same video-on-demand offerings as other HBO outlets, such as HBO Go and the upcoming HBO Now on Apple TV.

HBO will be available for $15 a month – that’s an extra fee on top of Sling’s $20 a month core package, which currently includes AMC, ESPN, HGTV, Disney and more. Supported devices include Xbox One, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV stick, Roku and iOS and Android phones.

Now that Sling’s fattening up both its basic and premium offerings, it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out on a cord-cutter’s budget. Signing up for both Sling and HBO means you’ll be looking at $35 a month for these select channels. That officially makes it pricier than some cable providers; Time Warner offers basic cable with HBO Go for $29.99 a month.
