Imgur introduces Topics to simplify browsing through its content

Imgur introduces Topics to simplify browsing through its content

Imgur is one of the most prominent hosts on the Web for funny images and GIFs, yet it has so far thrived largely as a place for Reddit users to share their images. The site now wants to make its content easier to browse through directly.

Starting today, you can sort images through a variety of ‘Topics,’ including Funny, Awesome, Aww, The More You Know, Storytime, Current Events and Design & Art. Imgur says it will update the list of topics as it analyzes more user data.

Although Imgur previously featured tags to help users sort through the plethora of images, broader categories should make it easier for new users to discover content, or simplify browsing when you aren’t looking for specific images.

The change also makes it easier to publish a new image. Instead of trying to think of tags, you are ready to go as soon as you select a topic.
