Facebook’s Mentions app for celebrities adds sharing to Twitter and Instagram

Facebook’s Mentions app for celebrities adds sharing to Twitter and Instagram

Facebook launched Mentions July of last year to allow celebrities and other “influencers”to easily keep track of interactions and share content with their fans. Today, the company is introducing the ability for celebrities to share their content on Instagram and Twitter too.

Once a user makes a post to Facebook via the app, they can simply click on the menu button above the post to share onto the additional media platforms.

Additionally, celebrities (or their social media managers) can now add topics they’re interested in, such as other celebrities and hashtags, to their feed. This allows them to keep track of public posts on a topic  in addition to just posts that mention them.

Although Instragram support doesn’t come as much of a surprise given the network is Facebook-owned, Twitter is more unexpected. Still, it makes sense; adding Twitter integration helps keep influencer’s using Facebook’s app, and assures they post their content on Facebook first.
