It’s official: Google has invested in SpaceX as part of a new $1 billion round

SpaceX today confirmed that Google and Fidelity have invested $1 billion into the company, hot on the heels of Elon Musk sharing last week that the company is working on the internet for space.

The investment means SpaceX is now valued at around $10 billion. The Information reported earlier today that the purpose of the deal is to bolster the company’s micro-satellite efforts.

SpaceX says that Google and Fidelity now collectively own just under 10% of the company.
