Google’s DoubleClick for Publishers is down, removing ads from sites across the Web [Update: Back!]

Google’s DoubleClick for Publishers is down, removing ads from sites across the Web [Update: Back!]

Around 9:40 AM EST, several websites using Google’s DoubleClick ad service started experiencing problems as Google’s servers apparently went down.

This includes issues from ads appearing blank to entire websites not loading at all. It’s likely affecting millions of advertisements across the Web and could cause advertisers to lose a whole lot of money collectively.

Indeed, the shutdown is currently affecting ads on The Next Web itself. We reached out to Google and were told “the team is aware and is looking into it.” We will update you once we receive an official statement on the issue and its cause.

Update 10:33 AM: It looks like the ads are all back up now, although they might still be loading slowly on some pages.

Update 11:14 AM: It’s all sorted now. Google posted the following on their DoubleClick blog:

DoubleClick for Publishers experienced an outage this morning impacting publishers globally, across their video, display, native and mobile formats. Our team has worked quickly to fix the software bug and it’s now back up and running, so our publisher partners can return to funding their content.
