Duolingo’s crowdsourced language learning platform has made 40 courses for 11 million people

Duolingo announced today that its Language Incubator platform, where anyone can contribute to new language lessons, has resulted in 40 additional courses taken by over 11 million people.

The initiative was launched in October last year to help Duolingo provide new materials for its growing community of language learners. Anyone can apply to be a course contributor; on the site you can see which modules are in development, which are in beta and their estimated completion date. Duolingo also uses algorithms to ensure contributions are of a high quality.

More than 200 volunteers have worked on the new courses so far.
