Yahoo relaunches its ecommerce platform as Yahoo Stores: SEO, themes, real-time analytics for Web and mobile

Yahoo today announced it has relaunched its ecommerce platform as Yahoo Stores, a “completely reimagined, next-generation version” with the same goal of helping anyone start, build and grow a successful business online. The company says its small business team used insights from its over 1 million customers over the past 16 years to create a revamped platform for small business owners.

Yahoo promises that instead of creating an online store yourself over the span of a few weeks, Yahoo Stores lets you start accepting orders “in less than a couple of minutes.” The company’s platform is PCI compliant, and connects you directly with a payment service provider “in just a few clicks.”

Yahoo is also promising “automatic SEO”: from the start, your store will use Yahoo.com’s technology, including relevant keywords in your website URLs, concise descriptions of your website’s content, and so on. Yahoo Stores also offers a product catalog schema and tools for merchants to organize and promote their products.

Next up, Yahoo Stores features themes for online storefront designs with color and style guides that “go beyond templates” with built-in support for smartphones, tablets and desktop platforms. There’s also a theme editor that lets you change your website with no preview required: directly tweak titles, pictures, descriptions and so on.

Last but not least, Yahoo Stores has real-time analytics for Web and mobile to help you monitor traffic and sales. Live Web Insights for mobile lets you manage your store on the go, and the Yahoo App Gallery has apps and services to further extend tools available to you.
