Give yourself a pat on the back, Internet. Oxford Dictionaries has given in and added ridiculous modern words like humblebrag, listicle, live-tweet, clickbait and YOLO to a quarterly update of its official online dictionary.
Now you can SMH at all those neckbeards binge-watching Game of Thrones, because FML. I’m very sorry that’s now an actual sentence. Thankfully, these words haven’t showed up in the Oxford English Dictionary, so it’s not part of the “definitive record” just yet.
So. Much. Tech.
Some of the biggest names in tech are coming to TNW Conference in Amsterdam this May.
This latest addition not all millennial hijinks, though. You’ll also find a few somewhat reasonable tech words in this batch, like cord cutting, hyper connected, Deep Web, fast follower and smartwatch.
Oxford Dictionaries uses a language monitoring program to track the new words that people use and how they catch on. So, we’re all kind of to blame for this.
