Dropbox reaches 300m users, adding on 100m users in just six months

Dropbox announced today that it has hit a new milestone of 300 million users, tacking on 100 million users in just six months since it passed the 200 million mark in November 2013. The file-sharing service previously took one year to add on 100 million users from November 2012.

Its growth in user numbers could be partially due to Dropbox’s renewed focus on perfecting and rolling out affiliated services. Last month, the company made its business-focused service available to all corporate users.

Dropbox also recently announced Carousel, a cross-device photo and video gallery, seeking to make it more convenient for users who use Dropbox primarily for images instead of documents. To this extent, it also just acquired photo startup Bubbli, known for its 3D photo-stitching technology.
