Github acquires Y Combinator graduate Easel and its Web-based visual design service

Online code repository Github has completed its second acquisition to date after it snapped up Easel, a Y Combinator graduate that offers a browser-based visual tool for designing and prototyping, in an undisclosed deal. (For what it’s worth, GitHub’s first acquisition was Ordered List back in 2011.)

There seems like plenty of synergy between the two companies and Easel will continue to exist. A post on the Easel blog explains that paying customers will continue to be able to use the service, while also enjoying customer and service support.

“We believe that iterating on design should be straightforward and free of repetitive work. We’re excited to be joining GitHub to continue to pursue that goal,” the post reads, though it does not detail how the product will integrate with Github.
