Yahoo acquires natural language search specialist SkyPhrase

Yahoo has acquired SkyPhrase, a startup specializing in conversational search queries for services such as Gmail and Twitter. The team will now join Yahoo Labs, a research and development division in New York.

The deal was confirmed for an undisclosed amount on the Yahoo Labs blog. In a statement published on the SkyPhrase website, its team said Yahoo shared its vision for making sure technology can understand the way we naturally ask for information and carry out everyday tasks.

“We can’t wait to take things to the next level together,” the company said.
