Yahoo Mail to switch to default HTTPS encryption on January 8, 2014

Yahoo has confirmed to The Washington Post that it plans to turn on HTTPS encryption by default for Yahoo Mail starting January 8, 2014.

The switch will take place exactly one year after Yahoo first rolled out an SSL encryption feature for its mail service. Yahoo’s competitors, Google and Microsoft, have been offering HTTPS as a default for years.
