The fifth run of the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator (ERA) has recently concluded in New York City and the ten participating startups are today presenting to prospective investors at a demo day event.

Admitted.ly is an online platform that aims to increase students’ chances of admission to their ideal schools, while also making life easier for parents and guidance counselors. Personalized “Admitted.ly Scores” and customized recommendations help students make the right choices.
Natural language processing is an area that a lot of startups are investigating right now. Agolo analyzes Twitter to answer users’ questions and notify them about things like what to watch on TV tonight or where to eat based on relevant tweets.
Aimed at women, ClosetDash is a place to exchange their old clothes for credit towards new fashion items. The startup says that it has swapped 9,000 pieces of clothing to date, although customers with nothing to swap are still promised a good deal. ClosetDash says that its sales produce a 60% gross margin.
If you want to find and book musicians, photographers, or other artists for an event, Gigzolo wants to be the place you go to do it. Customers can compare artists’ pricing, watch videos of them in action, and read reviews from people who have previously booked them. Text and video chat lets you talk to an artist before you book them.
Tractors, forklifts, bulldozers and beyond – Machinio is the place to go to buy and sell used industrial equipment. The marketplace currently boasts more than a million listings.
Lists are the ‘in’ thing right now, and Metropolist wants you to make them about your city’s best or worst… anything. Whether it’s “LA’s 25 Most Decadent Burgers” or “Boston’s 10 Dentists Who Won’t Make Your Toddler Cry,” Metropoloist combines user-generated topics and voting to produce what it says are relevant, comprehensive, up-to-date rankings.
Nutmeg Education is a platform designed to help teachers create tests and quizzes to prepare students for the Common Core, which is now a compulsory part of education in 45 states in the USA. The service offers insights into each student’s progress, helping teachers personalize their approach.
Any website that puts up a paywall or registration gate can expect a huge number of visitors to simply walk away right there and then. Premium ad network Piiku says that figure is higher than 90%, but offers a way for these people to be monetized through video advertisements while helping convert them into paid subscribers.
RockerBox offers “momentum-based advertising” to the Web by analyzing a user’s real-time browsing intent – where have they been and where will they want to go? The aim is to offer better performance and value to advertisers with relatively small budgets. The team consists of early employees of mobile ad platform AppNexus.
Tapactive describes itself as “Netflix for training,” charging a set monthly fee to let subscribers book unlimited workouts with qualified trainers at a suitable location, such as the subcsriber’s home, office, the park or a gym.
