Melbourne IT, the domain registrar at center of the New York Times and Twitter hacks, is hacked itself

On the same day Melbourne IT found itself at the center of the so-called ‘Syrian Electronic Army’s’ (SEA) attack on the New York Times and Twitter, the Australia-based domain name registrar has had its own blog hacked.

With Melbourne IT as the hosting company, the original hack took the New York Times’ website offline, and affected Twitter’s image service. Now, on the Melbourne IT blog, a message simply says “Hacked by SEA, Your servers security is very weak.”

This message was also tweeted by an account purporting to be official reps of the hacker collective.
