AirBnB and Codecademy included in list of 36 ‘most innovative technology start-ups’ by World Economic Forum

Airbnb, Codecademy and Nest Labs feature among the 36 firms recognized this year as Technology Pioneers by the World Economic Forum.

The new “champions” were nominated by the public, Forum members, constituents and collaborators for their ability to transform how businesses and society at large operate in the future.

A selection committee that includes Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo, Arianna Huffington, President and Editor-in-Chief of the Huffington Post Media Group and Loic Le Meur, CEO of Le Web, then decided the final shortlist.

Google, Mozilla Corporation, Twitter and Kickstarter have been selected at Technology Pioneers in previous years.

It’s a similar idea to the Europioneers, a new initiative by the European Commission (which The Next Web worked in partnership on) that celebrates Europe’s most innovative and influential tech entrepreneurs.
