Google Maps brings 45-degree views and updated aerial imagery to loads of new locations

To those of us who have been big fans of Google’s high-definition imagery and 45-degree angles in Maps, it’s a great day as the team adds loads of new locations. 51 new cities get the 45-degree treatment, while 112 countries and 17 cities get updated satellite and aerial imagery.

A couple examples that Google notes for the 45-degree imagery are Pisa, Italy and Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada:

 

The news comes just one day after we heard that Google is planning to bring Street View to its mobile Maps application within the next two weeks.

While it’s not quite as cool as Google’s recent announcement of undersea views, it’s still a great way to pull up some not-so-familiar locations and get a birds-eye view of them. Sorry Apple, but no amount of apology letters is going to make up for the shortcomings that Google seems to fill with abandon.
