Established just three years ago, the London-based firm had a good run providing live fantasy football betting while capturing the real-time networks of ardent sports fans on platforms like Twitter.
In a sad farewell on Picklive’s blog, community manager Olly Frank writes:
“On behalf of the founding team I want to you to be the first to know that today is our last day at Picklive.
Three years ago we invented live fantasy football as a form of second screen entertainment. Now we feel that we’ve taken the product as far as we can and that the new owners are better placed to develop Picklive in the future to fulfill its potential in other sports and to a wider audience.
I’d personally like to thank each and every one of you for your company, spirit and humour over the past 3 years. It’s been brilliant and we hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as we have.
The new owners of Picklive have skills and competence in the gaming arena that mean we are confident that Picklive will go from strength to strength. We all hope to see you “on the other side” as players of Picklive.”
Not restricted to football though, last year the company also brought out a ‘fantasy cricket’ game for two screen interaction.
Sports Millions is a private company, also based in London. Picklive will be well placed with the company which works to provide products that harness developments in online, mobile and social gaming.
Picklive CEO Tim Morgan explained to Paid Content that his team is now ready to move on to different projects.
