AudioMicro adds 100k sound effects to revamped stock audio site, debuts pay-as-you-go pricing scheme

AudioMicro, a site where you can find royalty-free sound effects and music, has added over 100,000 new sound effects from the library of Sound Ideas.

The cool thing about this is the fact that this collection of contemporary and vintage sound effects have traditionally been available exclusively on CDs and hard drives.

For your background: Sound Ideas was founded by Brian Nimens back in 1978.

Thanks to the AudioMicro deal, its sound FX library is now also available online.

The addition of the Sound Ideas sound effects, which fall under categories like animals, science fiction, wooshes, guns and whatnot, brings the total of audio elements available on AudioMicro to some 300,000 stock music and sound effect tracks, all pre-cleared for use in creative audio-visual productions.

Its target audience consists of YouTube users, iOS app developers and film/TV producers.

AudioMicro has also launched a new version of its website, with a completely revamped UI aimed to help visitors discover and license stock audio quickly.

The new design comes with a slick HTML5 audio player that allows users to more easily browse the archive and locate the perfect cue or effect for their projects, embeddable tracks and customizable favorites lists.

In addition, AudioMicro has dumped its credit-based purchasing system for pay-as-you-go pricing, and is also introducing a simplified end-user license agreement that allows tracks to be purchased once and used over and over again in multiple projects by the same buyer.

Finally, the AudioMicro API allows approved partner platforms and resellers to create customizable applications utilizing the AudioMicro library. Existing API partners include SlideRocket, Hark, and Amana Images.

The company, which is backed by DFJ Frontier and Fotolia, is also poised to announce more news regarding its other properties, celebrity stock photo site ImageCollect and YouTube monetization solution AdRev, in the coming months.
