Commerce Guys, the American-French startup behind nifty e-commerce solution Drupal Commerce (which was built upon open-source CMS Drupal 7), this morning announced that it has secured $5 million in Series A funding from two investments firms based in Paris, France (Alven Capital and ISAI) as well as Espoo, Finland-based Open Ocean Capital. The round brings its total funding raised to $6 million.
With the fresh capital, Commerce Guys says it intends to add 30 staff members in the coming months, half of those in its Michigan-based U.S. headquarters. The company currently has 37 employees, split between its North American offices and its European headquarters in Paris.
The company’s Drupal Commerce solution is basically an open-source framework that it says is now in use by over 10,000 websites worldwide. It lets online retailers upload catalogs, accept payments, integrate with shipping services, interact with customers online and more. You can download it here (demo site).
