Mozilla has revealed that its Firefox OS smartphones are expanding into India, after the company agreed to deals with local OEMs Intex and Spice. The duo are set to introduce “ultra-low-cost” devices to the country over “the next few months,” though Mozilla didn’t reveal pricing or other details.

India’s price conscious market is still dominated by feature phones, though a recent IDC report shows smartphone shipments rose 186 percent in the past year. That mixture will make it an interesting place for devices running the HTM5-based Firefox OS.

In addition to the India partnerships, the company has also struck an agreement with Taiwan-based operator Chunghwa Telecom. That brings the total number of operators in the initiative to 22, including big names like Telefónica, Deutsche Telekom, China Unicom and SingTel.
