MTS becomes first CDMA carrier to launch international data roaming in India

Telecom carrier MTS launched the first international data roaming SIM card for CDMA subscribers in India today, according to a report by Indian Tech News. Owned by Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL), MTS is home to over 13 million subscribers.

MTS has tied up with hundreds of telecom carriers around the globe and its customers will now be able to roam in 231 countries on 433 GSM networks, 145 of which are HSDPA-enabled.

MTS will facilitate this with the help of a new dual-mode SIM card that is capable of working with both GSM and CDMA networks and that customers can apply for before jetting off on their international trip.
