Google launches Indie Games Contest for European Developers

Aiming to shine a spotlight on the best games in the Play Store, Google has announced the introduction of the first ever Google Play Indie Games Contest in Europe.

The event aims to recognize the best independent studios and developers on the continent, and will offer prizes to successful entrants in order to accelerate their success on the platform even further.

To be eligible to enter, studios must have less than 15 full time employees, and have published a new game on the Google Play store after January 1, 2016.

It’s also only open to a limited number of European countries, including the Czech Republic, Denmark, Findland, France, Germany, Iceland, Israel, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the UK (excluding Northern Ireland).

Those who win will get their hands on an enticing bundle of prizes, including tickets to Google I/O 2017, premium placements on the Google Play Store, Pixel XL handsets, a €50 thousand YouTuber influencer campaign, and more.

This isn’t the only event Google has launched in the indie gaming sphere. The company has ran similar Google Play Indie Festivals in both the United States and South Korea, in addition to its Indie Corner program.

To enter the European Google Play Indie Games Contest, submit your game before the December 31 deadline.
