Google’s new online tool lets early Project Fi signups check on their invite status

Google’s new online tool lets early Project Fi signups check on their invite status

If you were one of the people to sign up early for Google’s upcoming cellular service – Project Fi – you can now keep track of your invite’s status more easily.

Google rolled out an online tool to its Project Fi sign-up page showing people when they should expect to hear back about access to the service.

According to TechCrunch, several users are seeing 3-4 or 4-8 week time frames, but others only see a message indicating Google is still determining their status, with no precise time frame to be found.

TechCrunch also notes the invites don’t seem to be handed out on a rolling basis; some of the people who signed up on the first day still aren’t seeing an expected timeframe, so it’s likely Google is using criteria like data coverage per region instead.

Google said that the invites would roll out to everyone by mid-summer, but that deadline is fast approaching, so we’d expect to hear more about Project Fi soon.
