YouTube testing feature that creates GIFs directly from videos

YouTube testing feature that creates GIFs directly from videos

Prepare yourself, for the YouTube GIFs are coming! A new feature in testing on YouTube allows users to quickly create GIFs from videos on the video service.

Currently only in testing on the PBS Idea Channel’s page, the new feature allows you to simply click the share button, then drag a trim selector to pick the part of the video you want to turn into a GIF.

The maximum length of an auto-generated GIF is five seconds and you’re able to add your own text to the top and bottom of the GIF automatically.

Hopefully this is a test YouTube graduates to the rest of the site; it’d revolutionize the way GIFs are made. I’m already a huge fan.
