Google releases app that will bring live television broadcasts to Android TV

When you’ve got a set-top box for your TV, you might want to watch some live TV, right?

Google hasn’t said much about Android TV’s live capabilities, but a new Google-built app appeared in the Play Store today that promises the ability to watch traditional TV channels using a traditional or IP-based tuner.

First spotted by Android Police, the app doesn’t seem to do much right now and isn’t compatible with phones or tablets. In fact, it currently can’t be opened on Android TV.

There’s no mention of traditional TV watching on the Nexus TV website, nor are there any accessories that would allow you to get a TV signal into your device yet, however this is a good sign it’ll be landing soon.
