Alleged leak of YouTube music service shows offline, audio-only and background modes

Google confirmed plans for a YouTube subscription music service earlier this year. Now, Android Police has a pretty solid lead on it with alleged leaked screenshots of the service, which is currently named YouTube Music Key.

While details could change as Google puts the final touches on the new product, YouTube Music Key is expected to include Google Play Music All Access, which will be rebranded as Google Play Music Key.

Based on the leak, the new YouTube service will offer ad-free music, audio-only mode, offline playback, background listening and more. Users will pay $9.99 for access to a catalog of 20 million tracks.

Google said in June that it will go live with its music offering this summer, though it’s not clear if the service is currently on track to launch before summer ends late next month. Negotiations with indie labels are believed to have played a part in pushing back Google’s plans.

A YouTube spokesperson declined to comment on the rumor.
