Google Play Movies premieres in Belgium, Switzerland, Uganda and the Philippines

Google Play Movies has arrived in Belgium, Switzerland, Uganda and the Philippines. The service is now available in 69 markets, giving movie fanatics the chance to purchase and rent both classic flicks and the latest blockbusters.

Recently, Google renewed its efforts to promote the Google Play branding and improve customer awareness. The company released a number of fresh adverts celebrating its services, in part to supplement the wider release of its Chromecast streaming dongle. The hardware is an opportunity for Google to promote its media services, so offering its full portfolio on a global scale is paramount.

While the Play Store normally positions movies and TV shows under the same banner, it’s worth emphasizing that the new expansion is for theatrical releases only. TV shows are currently available in just four markets: Australia, Japan, the US and UK. Perhaps Google will focus on that particular medium next.
