Google previously revealed that it was working to create a new generation of robots, and now it seems to be taking a further step in this area as it is in the midst of acquiring artificial intelligence startup DeepMind for $400 million, Re/code reports.

DeepMind’s site states that its first commercial applications have been in simulations, e-commerce and games — so it seems likely that Google may be using its technologies and developing its robots in these directions. After all, it was speculated that Google’s robotics project may eventually produce robots for logistics and retail industries. Last month, Google also bought over Boston Dynamics, a company which builds robots that can walk and run — marking its eighth acquisition in the field.
