Google launches initiative to help nonprofits with Glass, starts by giving devices to five organizations

Google today announced it has given five nonprofits Project Glass devices, as part of a new Giving through Glass initiative. World Wildlife Fund, Samasource, GiveDirectly, DoSomething!, and +charity: water were all chosen because they had ideas for using Glass to “amplify their impact and tackle some complex challenges.”

These groups will use Glass in their daily work, which Google says will help it explore how the technology can help solve some real world problems. The organizations meanwhile hope to bring more transparency to philanthropy, as well as close the gap between donors and the people they support.
