Continuing with its indoor push, Google Maps is today introducing a new way for users to view indoor panoramic imagery from businesses. Now, all you need to do is drag the orange Pegman onto an orange circle which sits above participating business in Maps, and you’ll get a panomaric view of the entire establishment.
This move is part of Google’s Business Photos program, which started back in 2010 and currently touts “thousands” of locations. Whether or not participating actually helps third-party businesses drive more traffic has yet to be seen, but taking street view beyond the street sounds like a good idea — even if it brings us one step closer to a Skynet/Terminator situation.
According to Google, everything from restaurants to retail shops and beauty salons can be discovered through Maps, and you can check out a few examples via the links below:
- A dinner date in Orlando, Florida,
- a resort in Canary Islands, Spain
- Antique store in Austin, Texas.
