We want the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus dummies shown off in these photos and videos for real

We want the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus dummies shown off in these photos and videos for real

This Fall, iOS users (and likely some Android converts) will have a decision to make: iPhone 7 or 7 Plus? If the phone’s design is of any concern to you, you’ll want to check these pictures out.

What we’re seeing are images (via Techtastic) and videos (still not in Space Black!) alleged to be dummy iPhone 7 and 7 Plus units. If they’re legit, there are some striking design elements distinguishing the two.

Most striking is the camera. It’s long been rumored that the larger iPhone would have a dual camera setup, while the smaller unit kept its single-sensor hardware. Interestingly, the dual sensors on the larger iPhone seem to be much smaller than the single lens. The flash arrangement is also the same on both.

Various rumors suggest the dual cameras will be used for a variety of things, but most believe it’s a measure to improve low-light performance without sacrificing what we already love about iPhone photography.

Still, others think the dual cameras will serve as a means to get both wide-angle and detailed shots at the same time, possibly providing more detail to those wider images by merging two pictures together in post-production.

Elsewhere, the antenna lines no longer line the rear of the phone, instead following its curvature around the top and bottom. There’s also no audio jack — it’s been replaced by a second speaker grill in these images.

The 7 Plus does have Apple’s Smart Connector, though. That was first introduced on the iPad Pro, and serves as a method for connecting peripherals like the Smart Keyboard — but many believe Apple will use it for wireless charging on the next iPhone.

Our caveat for all of this: we’re not sold on dummy units, so don’t get too attached to these devices. It’s very possible that someone actually got hold of dummy devices that were actually produced at an actual Apple supply chain partner’s facillity — but it’s just as likely someone 3D printed some based on exisitng rumors.

Either way, we’re excited to see what Apple has for us in September.
