Sony’s next-gen PlayStation 4 video game console will launch in the US on November 15 and Europe on November 29. The release date was confirmed during a press event at Gamescom in Cologne today.

The system runs on an 8-core x86 processor this time around and comes fitted with a 500GB hard drive, a Blu-ray/DVD drive and 8GB of GDDR5 memory. In the box is also a new DualShock 4 controller with touchpad, as well as the new PlayStation 4 Eye – provided consumers want to pay the extra $59. The standard version will be sold for $399 in the US, €399 in Europe and £349 in the UK.

Sony also announced a price drop for the PlayStation Vita today, which is down to $199 in the US and €199 in Europe, as well as Twitch support for the PlayStation 4 sometime in the fall.
