Facebook has a bug that forces Pages to auto-like their own posts

Facebook has a bug that forces Pages to auto-like their own posts

Facebook Page admins: rest easy and don’t fire your intern just yet. If your Page seems to be automatically liking nearly every post you’ve published, it’s not just you; it appears a bug on Facebook is causing Pages to do so on its own.

We noticed this bug overnight when a bunch of our own posts were getting likes by The Next Web itself. At first we thought someone on the team was doing so by mistake, but it appears other Facebook Page managers have experienced similar issues – from bigger brands like Livestrong and Emojipedia to smaller, personal businesses.

When admins try to unlike the post, they are met with a grey button that won’t allow them to reverse the action. For smaller companies, it may not seem like a big deal – but for brands it can come across awkward and narcissistic.

Some of our posts have had the Likes removed on their own; Facebook has confirmed the bug and is attempting to fix it. If your Page has been affected, don’t freak out: it’s just a bug, and it’s likely to go away soon. Until then, just keep playing Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” and laugh it off.
