We don’t give a lot of thought, these days, to liking a status update, adding a friend or sending a message. But if you’ve ever thought that you had a good idea of how much Facebook really knows about you, then this video is likely to blow your mind.
The story behind it, according to threatpost, is that Max Schrems of Vienna, Austria sent a formal request to get his data from Facebook. Since Schrems lives in Europe, it’s a Government-ensured right to be able to export your data from the social network. What he received, after a wait, was a disc containing 1,222 PDF files, detailing his every move.
In short, every move that Schrems ever made on the site had been recorded, including the messages that he thought would be long gone after he deleted them. Employment, relationships, geotagged photos…it’s all there, inside those 1,222 files, the length of which would rival the English translation of War and Peace, which clocks in at roughly 1,400 pages itself.
At any rate, the video is an eye opener, and should make us all a bit more aware of what we’re sharing out there. After all, as Sean Parker said about Facebook, “there’s good creepy and then there’s bad creepy.” And just remember, almost everything that you’ve done will be handed over to the police if Facebook gets a subpoena.

Very simple: There needs to be more transparency on those socual network platforms. A lot of people dont know about datamining, and expecially what the combination of intel (here: photos taken plus iTunes position data, plus timestamp) reveals about them.
There is ZERO transparency here from neither Facebook, nor Google nor Apple nor Microsoft. We should always be aware what Data they mine from us and how we can stop that.

LikeIt seems scary to view it in this context, but no one should be surprised that Facebook has this much data about it's users. We willingly give it to them every day. And of course it gets stored on their servers, where else would it be? All this data is what makes Facebook so valuable and why it stays free. It's a trade-off. Just think before you post stuff....

LikeI don't get this. Did Facebook go into Max's home and steal his information? Did Facebook put a gun on Max's head and forced him to share his info? Facebook is a free platform. Max willingly joined it. Max willingly shared his info. Does Max pay Facebook anything? No. What right does Max then have to dictate what Facebook does with the information that Max put there willingly and for free. I don't get why people get so mad at Facebook. It is free and it is voluntary. Don't like it, don't join it. Facebook is out there for free - like it, put your info on it, don't like it then don't? 800 million people clearly do like it.
I can understand if you buy an iPhone and then discover that it does not treat your personal information securely. You paid for it, and you have a right to demand it does what you expect it to do. But how can you dictate terms to a platform that is free and open and you go there of your own free will?!

Like@Ravi Miglani Irish laws dictate that he has a right to it. If Facebook doesn't like Irish laws, maybe that very same Facebook shouldn't operate in Ireland and Europe.
Data mining should be illegal.
