Apple is letting developers use its Swift benchmark suite as open source toolkit

To help avoid slowed performance when you update code, Apple’s Swift team has open sourced its benchmark suite of tools for developers.

Designed to “catch performance regressions before they are committed,” the Swift benchmark suite has 75 different benchmarks with core libraries for benchmarking functions.

A dedicated utility for comparing performance across Swift builds is also included, as is a driver for displaying your performance metrics.

And because it’s open source, you can contribute to the suite as well. If you think there’s a better solution than the one Apple has, build it and make a pull request! The suite is — naturally — hosted on GitHub.
