Twitter’s Digits developer tools get phone call verification, ability to change number

Twitter’s developer toolkit, Digits, which makes it easy for companies to build simple on boarding for their users is getting an update in some regions today.

It’s adding the ability to call users for two-factor verification if they don’t receive the activation SMS. In the case the SMS never arrives, Digits will now automatically fall back to calling the user without any changes to your code.

Digits also didn’t previously have the ability for users to change their phone numbers, which could cause some problems for those who lose access to the number they used to sign up.

Today’s update also means your users can change their phone number via the Digits dashboard, which will notify your app the next time it launches.

Twitter says that Digits means developers don’t need to make any major changes, just upgrade to the new version of the SDK.

The changes are starting today as an experiment on iOS and the Web in the US, India and Brazil.
