Hot off the presses, Garlic.js is a new JQuery plugin made by French developer Guillaume Potier which serves quite a simple purpose: to prevent your users from losing their form data.
It may sound a bit dry at first, but when it comes to acquiring new users, usability is everything, and that means preparing for the worst case scenario. Even engaged (potential) users can become deterred by an accidental page refresh, or a crashed tab in Chrome.
Contributing just a bit of extra hope, Garlic.js lets you store form text field values locally, so your users don’t have to worry about losing any precious data. Perhaps best of all, the plugin is extremely easy to use — so if you know how to included jQuery in your HTML, this’ll be a piece of cake.
Just include it, add rel="persist" to the forms you want to auto-persist and call Garlic on your page.
